It’s a time of change in WWE, as each of their shows hit the season premieres. These are coming with big matches, a set change for NXT – and most notably, a change in commentary for all shows. NXT, Smackdown Live & Monday Night RAW all have had their broadcast teams shuffled – so who ended up where?
Jimmy Smith Is Gone From WWE For Now
Both Smackdown Live & Monday Night RAW had members of their announce desks step away from the company. Pat McAfee is gone from Smackdown Live, focusing on outside projects – while Jimmy Smith is finished with WWE all together, with his contract now up.
Jimmy Smith would tweet out the following with this news.
“Just wanted to say, now that the story is officially out, that my time with the WWE is officially done. Had a lot of fun and met some great people. Really and truly blown away by the acceptance from the WWE fans! You folks make it work every week and your enthusiasm was amazing!”
The New Teams For Smackdown, RAW & NXT
The team for Monday Night RAW is now Corey Graves & Kevin Patrick – who was previously working on backstage interviews. Cathay Kelly & Byron Saxton will now handle the interviews on Monday Nights.
Smackdown Live is Michael Cole & Wade Barrett – with Barrett moving from NXT. Over the past few years, Barrett has shown some incredible skill on commentary, and working with someone like Cole will only help him push to that next level.
Finally, NXT is now Vic Joseph and two time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. Booker T is infamous for his time on commentary, often spouting nonsense in an entertaining fashion. A notable example is him asking people to “look into the eyes of Sin Cara” when the mask of Sin Cara completely covered them. Booker is a great fit for NXT – and could even get into the ring if needed.
