We’re in yet another period of change with WWE NXT. The 2.0 branding is being left in the past, but a focus on up and coming talent isn’t going anywhere. We’ve also seen a load of a NXT UK talent make their way across the pond and it’s really given a boost of in-ring quality. Current booker of NXT and WWE legend Shawn Michaels feels they will be huge for the brand.
Shawn Michaels Feels The NXT UK Stars Will Boost The Quality Of In-Ring Action
While speaking with My San Antonio, Shawn Michaels would be asked about what changes we will see from WWE NXT due to the recent in-flux of NXT UK talent. Michaels would have the following to say when asked if they will bring more in-ring consistency.
“They are obviously huge for us in that respect. Even at such young ages, they have a great deal of experience, especially the ones from the U.K. They started so young. You have people like Tyler Bate starting at 15 or 16, so now at 24, he is a seasoned veteran.”
Beyond Tyler Bate, we’ve also seen Blair Davenport, JD McDonagh (fka Jordan Devlin), Ilja Dragunov, Meiko Satomura, Axiom (fka A-Kid), Gallus, Charlie Dempsey, Nathan Frazer and Oro Menash (fka Oliver Carter) come over from NXT UK. NXT UK as we know it is dead, but will be replaced by NXT Europe in 2023.
Who Will Be In NXT Long Term?
It’s unclear who will return to Europe after NXT Europe launches, and who will either stick around in NXT or jump to the main roster. Many names from NXT UK were simply released, and it’s expected names like Trent Seven will be brought back in when NXT Europe begins. It already looks like Gallus might be getting a call up – having been written off NXT TV with a suspension.
It seems like Tyler Bate, Axiom & Nathan Frazer could be focus stars on NXT for the next year. Axiom & Frazer are currently in a best of three series, while Bate recently main evented Worlds Collide alongside Bron Breakker.
