Since his return from injury at Royal Rumble 2020, Edge has become a top name in WWE once again. During this time, he’s embraced his past in the company – even coming out to the Brood entrance theme a few times. This has had many ask if the leader of The Brood, Gangrel would return to the company.
Gangrel Doesn’t Rule Out A WWE Return
During a recent K&S Wrestlefest live stream, Gangrel didn’t rule out the possibility of reuniting two thirds of The Brood in WWE. Gangrel would be quoted saying the following when asked about joining back up with Edge.
“No, no, I never say never, but creeping up there in age, but I’m a vampire. So, keep fanging and banging.”
Gangrel was set to do a small Brood reunion with Christian Cage in AEW, but the segment was pulled after Edge did a bloodbath on Monday Night RAW that same week. AEW would still pay Gangrel in full, despite scrapping the plans. Gangrel also popped up in a Broken Matt Hardy match with Sammy Guevara, with many hoping the cameo would lead to future appearances.
While The Brood was a short-lived faction in the grander scheme of WWE and the Attitude Era, it remains a fan favourite from the era. Gangrel showing up to help Edge would be a fantastic one off moment, especially as Edge feuds with The Judgement Day.
Edge Is Losing His Battle Against The Judgement Day
The latest part of that feud came at Extreme Rules, when Finn Balor won an I Quit match – with The Judgement Day overwhelming Edge & Beth Phoenix during the match. Edge’s lone ally was Rey Mysterio, who was moved to the Smackdown Live brand.
This would lend itself well to a Gangrel return, though he’d likely do little to overcome the likes of Damien Priest. Aside from Gangrel, Rollins could serve as an ally – with mutual respect built between Edge & Rollins after a series of brutal matches in 2021. Would you want to see Gangrel & Edge team up in 2022?
