Last week, Javier Bernal would once again see his mouth get him into a fight. He would bump into NXT Champion Bron Breakker, and claimed that the champion was doing a good job keeping the belt warm for him. Breakker saw this as a challenger, and tonight Big Body Javi will be opening up NXT against the champion. It’s time to see if he can back up his talk – as a strong performance or a victory would do a lot for the future of Bernal on the brand.
Bron Breakker Sends A Message To Both Challengers
While Breakker was in the ring, one of his Halloween Havoc contenders Ilja Dragonov would arrive in the arena. JD McDonagh was also here, interrupting the entrance of Bernal – and perhaps becoming a mentor the rising star – offering some advice before joining commentary. Booker T was a fan, after he was called a king by McDonagh.
Breakker would hit a trio of slams on Bernal in the ring, pushing him into the corner. Bernal would get the clean break, before going after the wrist of Breakker and being taken down to the mat. On commentary, Booker T would explain that his history with Steiners makes him respect young Breakker – as Breakker would look for a Kimura Lock in the ring.
Bernal was able to fight free, before being dumped on the back of his head with a Belly to Belly Suplex. Breakker would take a forearm to the face before Bernal was able to beat him into the corner. Bernal would look for the Thesz Press, but was caught into the Rick Steiner style spinebuster. He’d try to get to the top rope, but came down the hard way before the Military Press into the powerslam for the victory.
Brawl Ahead Of Halloween Havoc
After the bell, Breakker would lock eyes with McDonagh, showing no fear ahead of Halloween Havoc. McDonagh would join him in the ring, and Dragunov was feeling a bit left out, and would make his way down to the ring. These three men will meet one week from Saturday, and Triple Threat matches have burned Breakker in the past.
McDonagh would kick this off into a brawl, hitting a headbutt to Dragunov before going after Breakker. Breakker was beat into the corner, and Dragunov would aim for McDonagh – but caught Breakker with Torpedo Moscow instead. At Halloween Havoc, that could be a title change – and Dragunov would lift the NXT Championship next to a downed Breakker.
