Ahead of their second engagement party, hosted by Ed’s family, Liz and Ed had a private dinner with his sister, Christine, who admitted to some scepticism based on the duo’s multiple, dramatic breakups. She explained, “Ed and Liz had several split-ups. It made all of us nervous. Honestly. It was definitely devastating the last time they broke up before getting back together. It was … bad.”

Christine, was however, open to giving Liz another chance: “He seems happy, that’s what I want for him. But, it has to go both ways. Let’s see how it goes.” Then the conversation turned to Big Ed’s mom, who is known to be very stubborn. She has refused to speak with her son because he is with Liz. The conversation drove Liz to tears. “Sorry, touchy subject,” the restaurant manager said as she dabbed her eyes with her sweatshirt sleeves.
Christine said she had tried to reason with their mom. “My hope and prayer is that she will, at some point, give you guys a chance to get together and talk and meet — and really get to know Liz.”
Big Ed and Liz held the second engagement party after the first one ended in disaster. The mother of one, Liz had found herself arguing with a female friend, when Ed questioned if she was a lesbian and was having an affair with the woman. She adamantly denied this and stormed out of the restaurant.
She went on to throw her engagement ring in a bush and listened to her fiancé end their engagement over the phone. The argument escalated when Liz arrived home, with the duo hurling insults. Now that the duo have made amends and the engagement is back one, several of their loved ones still don’t support their relationship. Perhaps, they will come around soon.
