While Triple H has made some great additions and changes to the WWE product, there are some moves that are questioned by fans and critics, with Austin Theory’s booking at the top of the list.
Before he left, Vince McMahon pushed Theory to the moon by taking him on as a protégé of his Mr. McMahon character, and subsequently giving him every break a crooked boss could.
Austin Theory’s in the Best Position he’s Been in Since Vince McMahon Left
It was a fast rise that resonated with fans and got us invested in the character. But since Vince retired amidst various allegations, Theory’s hot streak came to an abrupt end.
While there have been a lot of clamor about how he’s being buried, there was a recent report that those in WWE feel this is the best position Theory’s been in since Vince left the WWE.
Changing direction
Things came to a climax when Theory tried to cash in on Seth Rollins on November 7’s WWE Raw and failed because Bobby Lashey destroyed him and that allowed Rollins to stomp him to retain.
We previously talked about our theory that this storyline is meant to take his character further as he’s having to survive without Mr. McMahon handing him opportunities.
As it stands now, Theory is involved in storylines with Raw’s top two Superstars in Rollins and Lashley, and he’s chasing the top title on the Raw brand in the United States Championship.
In many ways, it’s clear there’s a bigger arc going on instead of the random story changes we used to see, and it should be pretty fun to see how it all works out.
But there is another thought out there, though it’s now as prevalent, and that’s this is Triple H flipping Vince off.
Triple H’s way
We all remember Vince wiping Triple H’s version of NXT away and firing most that worked for him to create NXT 2.0.
Because of that, there is a small contingent of fans saying Triple H wiping out Vince’s push for Theory is his way of repaying Vince for that, and while it seems possible, we doubt that’s it.
Triple H is family, and while they may have disagreements we don’t think he’d flip Vince off or anything like that, but he has different ideas on how things should be run.
There’s plenty of road ahead of us for Theory and others to see where the WWE is going, and we expect it to be a fun ride.
