The WWE reported that their independent investigation into former CEO Vince McMahon’s hush money is concluded.
This investigation began in July when the Wall Street Journal initially broke the story that Vince was being investigated for allegedly paying out hush money to keep his and others affairs quiet.
Vince McMahon is NEVER Coming Back to WWE After Latest Filing
After nearly four months of investigating, WWE’s co-CEO Nick Kahn announced in a press release the investigation was over and the special committee was disbanded.
“As previously announced, a Special Committee of independent members of the Board of Directors was formed to investigate alleged misconduct by Vincent K. McMahon, the Company’s former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, who resigned from all positions held with the Company on July 22, 2022 but remains a stockholder with a controlling interest, and another executive, who is also no longer with the Company.
“The Special Committee investigation is now complete and the Special Committee has been disbanded. Management is working with the Board to implement the recommendations of the Special Committee related to the investigation.
“For the three and nine-month periods ended September 30, 2022, the Company’s consolidated pre-tax results include the impact of $17.7 million and $19.4 million, respectively, associated with certain costs related to the investigation.”
The final numbers curiously mirror one another as the investigation cost $19.4 million, while Vince unreported payments were reportedly $19.6 million over the years.
Vince won’t be coming back
With the conclusion of the investigation and the Q3 results released, there is the matter or concern of whether or not Vince will return to the company following his retirement.
Many fans expected him to come back after the investigation, but given the moves Triple H has made it appeared unlikely, and according to Fightful Select Vince is done and won’t be returning.
They also reported that a high ups said morale in the company is the highest it’s been in the decade they’ve been there, and another claim is they feel Vince’s return would be a step back for the company.
Vince is still the largest shareholder and is intent on doing what’s best for the business going forward, but it looks like his days in WWE are over.
As fans, we’re grateful for what he did for the business and the memories he’s given us, but the WWE product has fallen off in recent years and there’s no overlooking Vince’s actions that have come out.
