When it comes to AJ Styles & Finn Balor, there is years of history. Both men were leaders of BULLET CLUB, both men have held World Championships in WWE – and right now, both are leading potentially dominant factions on Monday Night RAW. Styles is backed up by The OC & Mia Yim – while Balor has The Judgement Day, but tonight at Survivor Series, they meet one on one. Last time we saw them wrestle each other in singles action on a PPV, it was a last minute change to TLC 2018 – and Balor won out that night. That was a battle of respect, while this one is Balor trying to prove he is far superior to Styles.
Finn Balor Has His Leg Targeted Early
Balor & Styles would lock up hard in the middle of the ring – with Balor being pressed into the corner and shoved his way free. Styles would be forced into the corner next, with Balor offering a clean break. Balor would take some heavy kicks to the leg, falling in the middle of the ring before a Foot DDT.
Styles was able to hit some running chops, with Balor firing back with some body shots. A headbutt from Styles would follow, before Balor rolled him onto the mat and hit some slingshot stomps and knee strikes. Balor hit a stiff chop in the corner, before locking in a Cobra Twist in the middle of the ring. Styles would fight to break free with a hip toss before hitting some quick lariats.
Snapmare set up Balor for the sliding forearm smash, as Gallows & Anderson would brawl with Priest & Mysterio after Mysterio would grab the ankle of Styles – taking them up into the crowd. Balor would go for a pinfall after blocking a headlock takeover, before a Sunset Flip for another two count. Slingblade would drop Styles briefly, before Balor would find himself suplexed into the corner.
AJ Styles Shuts Finn Balor Down
Balor would hit a standing Coup De Grace to a sitting Styles, crushing down the collarbones of Styles. The Styles Clash would be set up by Balor, with Styles able to easily counter and look for the Calf Crusher. Balor would struggle free before taking a Pele Kick, and coming back with one of his own design before collapsing.
Styles would hit a leaping lariat into the corner, before Balor would catch Styles with the double knee gutbuster for a two count. Styles would spring out of the corner with the Phenomenal DDT Up to the top rope, Styles would miss a 450 Splash and take the shotgun dropkick. Balor hit the top rope for the Coup De Grace, but got nothing but canvas. Calf Crusher would be applied, but Balor was able to fight his way free.
Balor & Styles would trade blows in the middle of the ring, with Styles winning out. He’d find his way to the apron, and nailed the Phenomenal Forearm – taking their singles record in WWE to 1-1. A rubber match might be needed to see who is truly better, but tonight – Styles was the better man.
