Right now, there is a lot of good to be said about the women’s division in WWE – particularly on Monday Night RAW. Since Summerslam, we’ve seen the likes of Candice LeRae, Iyo Sky & Dakota Kai join the already strong roster. Kai is an interesting case, as she was released from WWE in 2021, and had talks with other promotions before Triple H would call her to set up a major main roster debut at Summerslam.
Dakota Kai Was In Talks With Other Companies Before Getting Call From Triple H
While speaking with the Getting Over podcast, Dakota Kai would reveal that she was in talks with other promotions before getting the call from Triple H to return. Kai would have the following to say about her WWE return.
“The talks never got super far, but we definitely touched base. I didn’t hear anything for a few weeks until Triple H contacted me. There were a few independent promotions here and there, but it was ‘lax talks,’ I would say. They never progressed to anything further. At that point in time, I had waited a few weeks. I think it was meant to be when Triple H called me because at that time, I felt good, I felt ready to get back in the ring and sure enough, this guy calls and wants me back. Yeah, there were talks.”
Since returning to WWE at Summerslam 2022, Dakota Kai has become a two time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. She also entered the WarGames match at Survivor Series – starting the match alongside Bianca Belair. Her WWE return has been very positive thus far, and there’s hope she battles for the RAW Women’s Championship in 2023 – with the only complaint being that she’s been stuck in an endless feud alongside Damage CTRL against Bianca Belair and pals.
