Janelle Brown has finally left Kody Brown after months of tension between them. After Christine left Kody, fans have been waiting for the day Janelle would do the same, and it seems their wishes have been granted.

A source exclusively shared the news with InTouch. “Janelle is a strong independent woman and realized she can do it on her own,” the source shared, saying that Janelle “outgrew him.” Janelle and Kody have been married for almost three decades, but their marriage started cracking under pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic. They didn’t see eye-to-eye when it came to how to navigate the health crisis as a family – Janelle disregarded Kody’s strict rules.
She even told him to “f–k off” during an intense argument over their holiday plans that year. Things never got better between the duo. Viewers have watched Janelle and Kody argue over pandemic protocols and the family’s living arrangements.
During the most recent season of the show, Janelle told cameras that she was beginning to question her role in the polygamist marriage. “I’ve caught myself in the last few weeks really reflecting and being like, ‘OK, look: Do I still choose plural marriage?’” She said “Yeah, I still choose it, but I’ve had to [make] that conscious decision with myself.”
“My children are almost grown and there’s not a huge necessity anymore to stay,” Janelle said about Kody. “With Kody and I right now, our relationship is pretty strained. And you know, it’s easy to walk away.” During a November 2022 TikTok Live, Christine’s daughter, Gwendlyn Brown spilled that the only wives left were Meri and Robyn. Christine’s aunt, Kristyn Decker, further fueled the speculation by exclusively tolling In Touch in November 2022 that Janelle had dumped Kody “a long time ago.”
“As far as any relationship, any marriage goes, I think [Janelle’s] similar to, in Meri [Brown]’s situation where she’s just staying in a marriage that’s not really a marriage,” she told the outlet “I don’t think they’ve had a marriage for a long, long, long time. It’s just platonic.” Fans may have seen this coming, as Christine and Janelle are very close. It was only a matter of time before Janelle realized that she had to liberate herself.
