On Sister Wives, the conflict between Janelle and Kody Brown is still simmering. The longtime pair fights over Janelle’s failure to be “faithful” to Kody in an exclusive sneak peek from Sunday’s episode.
The argument started because, in Kody’s opinion, “some family members aren’t willing to welcome other family members.” In this instance, he’s referring to how Robyn Brown, Kody’s fourth wife, annoys some family members. Without mentioning Robyn, 44, Kody, 53, says, “I have someone in my life that is genuinely loyal to me and regards me as the head of the household.”
Janelle Brown says Kody Browns’s Demand For Loyalty Is ‘Beyond Frustrating.’
“I’m saying to you that you and I get that if you’re loyal to me.” Kody stresses that he is not stating that Janelle, 53, must act exactly like Robyn to make his point. He tells the cameras, “I’m encouraging Janelle to be loyal.” “Robyn is completely loyal to me. So, OK, yeah, I guess that’s like Robyn. Nope. I’m just asking for loyalty. I want to be the head of my family.” On the other hand, Janelle has always “suspected” that Kody has had this thought. “I’m not going to be this person. I’m not going to become Robyn,” she says in a different confessional.
“It frustrates me beyond belief that he perceives this one wife, this one relationship [as] she’s so perfect, she’s such a saint, she was so nice to us, and she was treated so wrong. So everybody better apologize for being mean to her, or else this isn’t working anymore. This is the subtext I’ve been hearing this whole damn day.”
As she continues to discuss the situation with Kody, Janelle wonders whether her husband would behave similarly toward her if the “situation” were reversed. He replies, “Janelle, you and I have been acting like we weren’t a married couple for most of our marriage. “I don’t know why it’s been OK for so many years, and it’s not now, but you live like a single woman.” The second spouse of Kody is Janelle.
Robyn and his first wife Meri Brown are also included in their plural marriage; however, Kody’s connection with Meri, 51, has subsequently changed to a friendly one. In November 2021, Kody’s third wife, Christine Brown, announced their divorce after more than two decades of marriage. The TLC series about the Brown family depicted the ups and downs of managing plural marriage. Kody’s problems with Christine, 50, and Janelle have been a major plot factor this season.
In a recent episode, Kody acknowledged that his relationship with Janelle had worsened since she moved into an RV on their Coyote Pass property. Janelle says, “Kody’s been a broken record about this for the last little bit, how Robyn’s been so victimized. She was so sweet to everybody. She put herself out there. I don’t perceive it that way. I perceive that we were plural families trying to figure it out. And she always kept herself a little separate.”
