Streaming Giant, Netflix has announced the release date of comedian Chris Rock’s upcoming comedy special. It is also the streaming platform’s first-ever event to stream live globally.
Selective Outrage is Chris Rock’s second special for the streaming platform following 2018’s Tamborine. The comedy special will stream live on March 4, 2022 at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET. Alongside the big announcement, Netflix has released both a poster and sneak peek into the first-of-its-kind stand-up event. The 30-second teaser trailer, set to Bun B’s “The Best Is Back,” shows the comedian sitting in a dressing room.

He is staring into a mirror – and the camera. There’s a knock on the door, and a voice announces, “Chris, they’re ready for ya.” The clip then trails the stone-faced comedian as he walks through the backstage area and mounts the stage, filled with bright lights. His audience can be heard screaming in excitement, ready for his performance.
“Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation,” Robbie Praw, Netflix’s vp stand-up and comedy formats, shared in a previous statement. “We’re thrilled the entire world will be able to experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history. This will be an unforgettable moment and we’re so honored that Chris is carrying this torch.”
Chris Rock’s comedy special, which is set to live stream on Netflix, will potentially mark the comedian’s first time widely talking about the famous slap he got from actor, Will Smith during the 2022 Oscar ceremony. Chris Rock had declined to press charges.
However, Will Smith’s action resulted in the actor being banned from attending the annual Academy event for ten years after going home with the best actor award for King Richard. Ever since the incident, Christ has not made a public commented on the slap, although he has alluded to it during some of the stand-up shows he’s held over the last year.
