People are widely criticizing the event. While some are just criticizing, other fans are even asking for Dana White to resign his role as UFC president. Meanwhile, some fighters joined and expressed their concern about the UFC not taking any measures against Dana White. But, Sean O’Malley doubles down on his thoughts.
In a recent episode of his podcast, Sean O’Malley explained how he sees the situation.
“Oh God, speaking of knocking bitches out. While this happened on New Year’s, and it came out Monday, which is rare. TMZ sh*t usually comes out instantly. They got a good PR behind them.” – Sean O’Malley explained. “However, I feel bad for Dana. His wife slapped him. That is rude. And it deserves a slapping back. I don’t know. I don’t know. It’s a tricky one. But, I don’t know, treat people how you want to be treated.”
However, it didn’t take long before his fans’ comments caught on to him. Reading what they had to say and how they reacted to his defense of Dana White, he used the first opportunity to categorize his previous statement as ‘dark humor’. On his other podcast, TimboSugarShow, he backtracked on his previous statement.
“In the whole video, I was like, dark humor, making jokes on a bunch of bad sh*t. 95% of what we say is f**king around. It’s the kind of humor that we like, unfortunately.” – Sean O’Malley defended his nonsense statements.
Dustin Poirier is one of the first fighters to express his concern about the situation and condemn the UFC President. When giving an interview for the BloodyElbow, he did not back down from answering the question about Dana White.
“You should never put your hands on a woman.” – Dustin Poirier told BloodyElbow. “I don’t know the repercussions that come along with somebody of his stature. Somebody who runs these businesses and does something like that. Nevertheless, I have no clue. However, it’s not a good look for sure.”
Meanwhile, Dana White’s new ‘baby’ had its debut. He introduced the Powerslap league on the 11th of January.
When the interviewer asked Dustin Poirier about it, he told that it is not his ‘thing’. “It’s more of a tough man competition type thing, you know. And I’m just not educated on the techniques of slapping somebody, so…”
