There are a number of wrestlers out of action on Monday nights. Some of them might be out for storyline reasons while others are out for injuries. Here are three wrestlers that when they come back, will be big returns for Monday Night Raw.
Tommaso Ciampa
I wondered why Ciampa stopped appearing on television with The Miz a few months ago. He is currently injured but will return any month.
Unlike many fans, I like his pairing with The Miz. It put a spotlight on him by pairing him with someone with a spotlight. It catapulted him to a position where he could have matches with people above his popularity level and still be competitive.
We all know what he can do in the ring and we all know what kind of character he can be. Wrestling fans may say that he is being misused but I think that he just hasn’t had enough time to gain steam.
When he comes back, I think that WWE will quickly do something to get him away from The Miz, possibly a short feud against Bronson Reed, so that they can get him into a more natural place on the card which would be in a tag team with Johnny Gargano.
It seems like WWE is starting to put more of an emphasis on the tag team division on Monday nights and DIY would be a great cornerstone tag team for them. They could even be the first program against Judgement Day if they win the titles.
AJ Styles
One of the best in ring performers that WWE has, Styles would bolster the Raw roster and give the United States title picture or the possible World title return picture a plug and play wrestler.
AJ can do whatever you need him to do and is very versatile. There are many wrestlers on Raw that could use a quick storyline or a quick high quality match.
One of the biggest reasons why his return will be big and much needed is that there are three other wrestlers who are dependent on AJ Styles star power and presence.
Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, and Mia Yim are all in The OC with AJ Styles and as the leader of the group, they need AJ in order to get into a serious storyline or to have a reason to get pushed.
Like with Ciampa, The OC would help the tag team division. They are very talented and could have some great matches in that division but at the moment, they are ice cold.
Cody Rhodes
This one is a no brainer. If things go how I think it will, Cody will be the one to bring the true main event picture back to Monday Night Raw.
Even though I don’t think that it will be both titles like Roman Reigns have right now, I do think that they will split after WrestleMania and Cody will bring one title back to Raw.
With all of the hype and anticipation for Cody’s return at The Royal Rumble, WrestleMania will be the moment that Raw will finally take steps to return to it’s former glory and start being watchable again.
Even if this doesn’t happen, I still think that Cody will have a huge impact and his matches and star power will no doubt be huge for WWE in 2023.
