WWE Co-CEO and Chairwoman Stephanie McMahon has stepped down on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. She announced her “official resignation” from the company and thanked WWE for the “opportunity of a lifetime.”

Stephanie McMahon’s father, Vince McMahon is now the executive chairman of the WWE board, as he was “unanimously elected” the company shared in a release after Stephanie’s statement. “Dear WWE Universe, About 8 months ago, I took a leave of absence and within a few weeks, unexpectedly had the opportunity of a lifetime,” Stephanie tweeted, referencing her May 2020 decision to step down to “focus on my family.”

“I had the privilege to return as the Co-CEO and Chairwoman of the Board of WWE. I cannot put into words how proud I am to have led what I consider to be the greatest company in the world, working alongside a remarkable leadership team and one of the strongest executives I have known in my Co-CEO, Nick Khan.” “Our Founder, Vince McMahon, has returned as Executive Chair and is leading an exciting process regarding strategic alternatives,” she added.

“With Nick’s leadership and Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque as Chief Content Officer, am confident WWE is in the perfect place to continue to provide unparalleled creative content and drive maximum value for shareholders.”

Stephanie also shared that she was happy to leave the company in “such a strong position” and she looked forward to “cheering on WWE from the other side of the business, where I started when I was a little kid, as a pure fan.” “I will always remain dedicated to WWE. I truly love our company, our employees, our Superstars, and our fans. And I am grateful to all of our partners,” she said. “Thank you for everything. Then.

Now. Forever. Together.” Her father responded, saying, that he expressed his “full support for Stephanie’s personal decision,” in the release. “I’ll forever be grateful that she offered to step in during my absence and I’m truly proud of the job she did co-leading WWE,” he continued. “Stephanie has always been the ultimate ambassador for our company, and her decades of contributions have left an immeasurable impact on our brand.”

Vincent’s comeback is coming after his voluntarily step down from his position as WWE CEO after he allegedly paid a former employee $3 million to keep their affair a secret. On January 5, he announced his desire return to his role. “WWE is entering a critical juncture in its history with the upcoming media rights negotiations coinciding with increased industry-wide demand for quality content and live events and with more companies seeking to own the intellectual property on their platforms,” he said in a statement.
