Last night at Elimination Chamber, Edge finally was able to push past his old faction of The Judgement Day – fighting alongside his wife Beth Phoenix to defeat Finn Balor & Rhea Ripley. It was the first time Edge wrestled in Montreal since before his initial retirement due to injury – and despite originally saying he intended to retire in 2023 when WWE returns to Toronto, Edge isn’t making any firm decisions – beyond wanting to retire on his own terms in Canada.
Edge Isn’t Making Any Firm Decisions About Retirement Just Yet
During the post Elimination Chamber press conference, Edge would be asked about the potential of a 2023 retirement – and The Rated R Superstar would have the following to say in response.
“I try not to make any firm decisions, but here’s what I can say about tonight. For nine years I was retired. I come back and I get to team with my wife, who I married while I was retired and had two beautiful little girls with. The fact that we get to do this at all, I never thought this would happen. We’re out there, and if it looks like we’re having, it’s because we are, we’re having a blast.
I get to stand shoulder to shoulder with this woman. We get to hit a shatter machine, which we have never even attempted before, and pulled off. She hasn’t wrestled a match in a year and one month. Hops in there tonight in that kind of pressure cooker against two talents like that, and man, I’m just static. I’m not really thinking about what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow, let alone what I’m going to do five, six, seven, eight months from now. I will say, I would like it to be in Canada,”
Edge has maintained a high level of popularity since his 2020 return, even getting to the main event at WrestleMania 38 after winning the 2022 Royal Rumble. With his return run still drawing in fans – there is no reason for either WWE or Edge to take their foot off the gas just yet.
