When it comes to characters in the modern world of WWE, few men have put more effort in than Elias. Be it his time as a drifting guitar player or gaslighting Kevin Owens into thinking he was his brother Ezekial – Elias has proven himself to be entertaining whenever he shows up on TV. However, that has not always translated to in-ring performances, but that hasn’t stopped him from trying to get a big match at WrestleMania 39.
Elias Wants A Big Championship Match At WrestleMania, Would Even Face GUNTHER
While appearing as a guest on WWE Die Woche – Elias would express interest in getting a big time WrestleMania match – naming GUNTHER as a potential opponent. Elias had the following to say.
“Listen, I could throw it out there a million different ways. It would all depend on the story we get to tell. Guys like the Undertaker, John Cena there’s two of the guys. I mean, you mentioned I’ve had my WrestleMania interactions with them. I’d love for it to play out in some sort of big-time matchup on the biggest stage of them all, WrestleMania.
The here and now I’m trying to think of who is even in the running. GUNTHER, with the Intercontinental Championship. To have a big championship match at WrestleMania would be awesome. Austin Theory and Seth Rollins, whoever comes out on top there. Any sort of championship match.”
GUNTHER, Rollins & Theory All Have Rumoured Opponents
Right now, GUNTHER has no clear match at WrestleMania 39, though a match with Brock Lesnar has been teased. Seth Rollins is likely facing Logan Paul at the event – recently telling Paul to come find him on Monday Night RAW. Austin Theory is also someone who is set to have a big match, potentially facing 16 time World Champion John Cena at WrestleMania 39.
While someone as talented as Elias can certainly find a role at WrestleMania 39 – the WWE roster is stacked in 2023, and even with two nights of action? Spots will be sparse. It seems likely he will be involved in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royale – which in recent years has been put on the final episode of Smackdown Live, not WrestleMania itself.
