On a recent episode of The Bump, WWE IC champion GUNTHER discussed a couple of things but the most interesting topic was Brock Lesnar. We got a glimpse of a potential future match during the 2023 Royal Rumble match and obviously fans want more that just a sample.
Prediction: GUNTHER and Brock Lesnar Will Go 1-on-1 by SummerSlam 2023
Both men’s early careers on the main roster were punctuated by brutality and dominance of the ring, so there are definitely similarities that warrant the match. GUNTHER said that he was always impressed with Lesnar as a competitor and was a big fan when he debuted in wrestling.
Of course, GUNTHER wants the match as well and said as much:
“I said it before: people call me kind of like the end boss in situations, but Brock might be my personal end boss. I think that moment we had was all I needed out of it right now. Basically, real-life confirmation that the audience is up for that.”
Basically, GUNTHER knew when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em. Royal Rumble 2023 probably wasn’t the prime moment to face Brock. Maybe a one-on-one match is what he wants but right now, his focus is on defending the IC title.
I can see this match going down by or at SummerSlam 2023 unless an injury takes one of them out. Actually, the rubber match will likely be at the Slam with a match before it to really add to the drama and urgency of a potential big four PLE.
