When Cody Rhodes was able to eliminate GUNTHER to win the 2023 Royal Rumble match, he set down a course that many men have walked over the past few years. He needs to overcome The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns – and do it on the biggest stage in professional wrestling, WrestleMania. While this feud has taken a backseat ahead of WWE Elimination Chamber – Seth Rollins already knows that Reigns vs. Rhodes will be a must see match.
Seth Rollins Feels There’s Salt In The Wound With WrestleMania Main Event Of Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes
While speaking on the Sports Guys Talking Wrestling podcast alongside Special Olympics athlete Rene Mandredi, Seth Rollins was asked his thoughts on who will leave the WrestleMania main event as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion – and had the following to say.
“It’s very hard for me to look at that match unbiased, I think. I want that match, I want that spot, I want that title and to not have it, there’s a lot of salt in the wound having to talk about it so, it’s difficult for me to analyze. I will say you’re looking at two — a rock and a hard place, you know? You’ve got Roman Reigns who’s on an incredible run but you’ve got Cody Rhodes who’s riding a lot of momentum and so, when those two guys meet, if that is the match, could be Sami Zayn in that spot, who knows? We’ll see after Elimination Chamber. It’s gonna be a generational main event of WrestleMania. Again, hard for me to feel any way but slighted by it so, that is what it is. But, I’ll take a page out of Renee Manfredi’s book and I will support, I will support my family, my brothers and regardless of the outcome, it’s not about winning or losing, it’s how you play the game. It’s gonna be an incredible main event of WrestleMania no matter what it is.”
Right now, the path to WrestleMania for Seth Rollins is a bit more unsure. He has qualified for the United States Championship match at Elimination Chamber, where he will face Bronson Reed, Montez Ford, Johnny Gargano, Damien Priest and reigning champion Austin Theory. Rollins also has set the groundwork for a potential match against Logan Paul.
