The last time Austin Theory found himself locked in the Elimination Chamber, things didn’t go so well for him – with Brock Lesnar tearing him down with ease to claim the WWE Championship. That was just the first of a series of crushing losses suffered by Theory in 2022, which would in the end make him a better professional wrestler in the end. Now, he enters the Chamber as United States Champion – and looks to outlast Seth Rollins, Damian Priest, Bronson Reed, Montez Ford and Johnny Gargano in one of the most punishing matches in WWE history.
Johnny Gargano & Seth Rollins Meet For First Time In WWE
Theory, Ford, Reed & Priest would enter pods as this match began, with Gargano & Rollins starting the match. This is the first WWE meeting for Gargano & Rollins, but they have a history dating back to their past on the indies. They’d kick things off with some high speed chain wrestling, as the crowd didn’t know who to root for.
Gargano would look for the snapmare into rolling kick, with Rollins avoiding and trying for the Curb Stomp. They’d trade pinfall attempts, before Gargano went for the Slingshot Spear and narrowly avoiding a Pedigree. Rollins was sent to the apron, and cut down with a spear. Theory would be out next, going right after his old mentor Gargano pressing him into the cage.
Meanwhile, when Rollins was a messiah, Theory was one of his disciples, but in the ring he’d stomp Rollins right in the ribs. Theory would hit a Backbreaker in the ring, before punching Gargano in the face to keep him out of the ring. Gargano & Rollins would unite in the ring to take Theory down, as the crowd sung Rollins theme song.
Theory tried to get Gargano on his side, which was a massive failure. Gargano would chase Theory into a pod, and Rollins would get him, from behind before ramming him off the plexiglass of the pod. Rollins & Gargano would beat Theory down in the pod, as Priest entered the match. A boot to the face of Gargano would follow, before some leaping elbow smashes in the corner.
All Six Men Wage War In The Elimination Chamber
Gargano was dropped with the Broken Arrow, while Rollins took a Headlock DDT. Elevated Flatliner would get a near fall on Gargano, before South Of Heaven chokeslam was blocked as Rollins did a backflip. Priest would hit the Killswitch, before Theory crawled out of his pod and was kicked in the face before Priest hit a springboard senton over the ropes.
Rollins would hit an Enziguri before Gargano hit the superkick, with Theory rolling into the ring for a dropkick. Priest would get the final laugh with a kick to the face, but took his time on the top rope – with Rollins hitting the Superplex/Falcon Arrow combo for a near fall. Reed would enter the ring next, running everyone down with lariats before throwing Gargano onto Rollins.
Rollins & Gargano were stacked on his shoulders for a double Samoan Drop – sending Gargano rolling to the floor, and Rollins was pinned for a two count. Priest would take a German Suplex into the chains, before Reed hit a flying shoulder tackle to Theory. Ford would enter the match, putting all six men in the match.
Reed was driven into the chains by Ford, before Theory was planted with a Spinebuster in the middle of the ring. Ford would go for The People’s Elbow, but Reed ran him down with a lariat. Reed would be lifted by Theory for the A-Town Down, but Theory couldn’t complete the move. Gargano would be taken up onto the shoulders of Reed, with Rollins turning this into a Doomsday Device, as Gargano hit a Poison Rana for a near fall.
Cutting The Field Down To Two
Priest would try to hit the Razors Edge into the ring on Ford, only for Ford to cling to the chamber wall and climb to the roof. He’d spot a mass of bodies underneath, and launch himself downward. Reed would take a triple superkick, One Final Beat, the Curb Stomp and the From The Heavens Splash for the first elimination of this match.
Priest would be beaten into the corner by Rollins & Gargano, with Theory picking off Rollins as Priest handled Gargano. Rollins would be thrown at the cage but he’d cling on, starting a climb. Gargano would follow, joining Rollins on top of the pod. They’d take a moment to breathe before Rollins hit a chop. Gargano was slammed head first off the wall before being set up for a Powerbomb – with a last minute Hurricanrana counter possibly saving his career.
Priest would take a Tornado DDT on the steel floor from Gargano, who nailed superkicks on Ford & Theory. One Final Beat on the steel would spike Theory, before Priest stopped a DDT in the ring before Razors Edge took Gargano out of the match. Rollins would be targeted by Priest next, taking a series of kicks to the chest before Priest would go after Ford who hit the top rope.
Rollins would get Priest into a powerbomb, and Ford flew in for the Blockbuster – hitting the Street Profits finisher to eliminate Priest. Theory looked for A-Town Down, with Ford able to avoid this. Curb Stomp would follow to the steel plating, and Ford was eliminated – leaving just Rollins & Theory.
Logan Paul Screws Seth Rollins, Austin Theory Wins The Elimination Chamber
Superkick would land in the ring from Rollins, as Ford would be helped from the ring – a potential concussion. Theory would avoid the Curb Stomp himself, before Rollins would instead hit the Pedigree. Logan Paul would rush the ring and hit a Buckshot Lariat, finally coming to find Rollins after a lot of trash talk in the last few weeks.
Curb Stomp would follow, and Theory was left to pick up the pieces. A-Town Down would follow, and Theory wins the Elimination Chamber match with a massive assist to Logan Paul. Rollins had told Paul to stay in his lane – and Paul is not known to do what he is told.
