When it comes to the world of professional wrestling, there is no bigger event on the calendar than WrestleMania. Viewed by millions of fans live around the world – being on WrestleMania is huge for anyone’s career.
Kurt Angle had a chance to be involved with ten WrestleMania events in his career, but many consider his best to be at WrestleMania 21.
Putting Angle in with Mr. WrestleMania – Shawn Michaels, was a recipe for greatness – and Angle would have loved to do it again at WrestleMania 22.
Kurt Angle Wanted Second Round With Shawn Michaels At WrestleMania 22
On the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show, Angle would take a moment to recall his past at WrestleMania – with the question being what match he wishes he could have done twice.
“I’m not quite sure, but my guess was a repeat against Shawn Michaels. We were doing a lot of on and off. Shawn and I were working together all year long, since 2005 at WrestleMania. All through that year, all 2005, in the beginning of 2006, I was still working with Shawn and John Cena, but I would imagine it would be a program either with John Cena or Shawn Michaels.”
We were doing a lot of work together, and I would have been really excited about that. To work with Shawn again would have been the match that I would have picked for WrestleMania, definitely. To be able to wrestle Shawn a second time at WrestleMania, that would have been incredible.”
At WrestleMania 22 – Kurt Angle would defend the World Heavyweight Championship against both Randy Orton & Rey Mysterio, with Mysterio getting the victory in a short match.
A WrestleMania 21 rematch between Angle & Michaels would have likely been given a lot more time than this Triple Threat match.
Following 2016, it would be 12 years before Angle found himself on another WrestleMania – as he teamed with Ronda Rousey to face Triple H & Stephanie McMahon.
