‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) Spoilers finds that star, Peter Reckell celebrates 40 years on the show, as Beauregard Aurelius “Bo” Brady, the youngest child of Shawn and Caroline. The actor, no doubt has played the role very well so far.
He recently had a chat with Soap Hub in honor of his 40th anniversary as one of the network’s most popular male actors.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Peter Reckell Reflects on His Early Days as Bo Brady
In 1982, actor, Peter Reckell ended his time as Eric Hollister (opposite Dana Delany, who interpreted the role of Hayley Wilson) on As the World Turns. His career didn’t end there.
On May 3, 1983, Reckell made his first appearance on ‘Days of Our Lives’ as the bearded Bo Brady. “I came in looking like that,” the actor said, talking about his longer locks and facial hair.
He talked about how the producers asking him to remove his beards for a clean cut, but he decided that he was going to keep the bearded look that helped identify his character on the Daytime show.
“I said, ‘Oh, I have this [hair] for another role, which wasn’t true,” the actor said. “For some reason, I had the cojones to do something like that.”
Reckell went on to recall his character on ‘Days of Our Lives’ putting his feet up on Abe’s (James Reynolds) desk at the Salem Police station during the early days just to show that he was rebellious.
“Where’d all that cockiness come from?” the actor rhetorically asks with a chuckle. “[Producers] Al [Rabin] and Shelley [Curtis] let it happen. That’s one of the amazing things in daytime.
Writers and producers see where actors are going, and then, they write to those personalities.” Fans will recall during the 35th anniversary actor Reckell’s debut on DOOL, he tweeted that “On this day, what seems like a lifetime ago, I realized I was the luckiest man on Earth! What a gift, what a ride, it was amazing!”
