When Seth Rollins would claim the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions, he promised to do the work as champion.
Unlike his former Shield factionmate, Rollins intends to defend his belt whenever possible – and backed this up when he defended in an open challenge on Monday Night RAW. Now, a former champion in NXT is calling for Rollins to back his words up – and return to the NXT brand to defend his championship.
Bron Breakker Challenges Seth Rollins To Defend WWE World Heavyweight Championship In NXT
Bron Breakker was the man who was bold enough to call Rollins out in this way. A former two time NXT Champion, Breakker lost his championship to Carmelo Hayes recently – and failed to reclaim his belt at NXT Battleground. Despite this, Breakker remains one of the top names on the brand – and is a believable challenger for someone on the level of Rollins.
During his time in NXT, Breakker has beaten the likes of Tommaso Ciampa, Dolph Ziggler, Bobby Roode & Johnny Gargano – with Ziggler being a former World Heavyweight Champion. Breakker is set to be a future top star in WWE, and a shock victory over Rollins would shoot him right to the top of the card in a huge way.
Rollins Has Not Wrestled On The NXT Brand Since 2013
If Rollins accepts this challenge, it will mark his first match on an NXT branded show since his time as NXT Champion in 2013. It’s expected for this match to be made official very soon, as WWE tries to draw viewership to NXT once again.
Main roster stars have been popping up much more frequently on NXT programming, with Baron Corbin & Mustafa Ali recently returning to the brand after being marked as free agents in the WWE Draft.
Rollins would easily be the biggest name to show up on NXT in an attempt to bring in more viewers, and it would be a true test of his drawing power. NXT has generally been one of the lesser watched WWE shows since being brought to TV, with a major hit in viewership following the messy and failed switch to NXT 2.0.
