In a career spanning over 30 years—most of which was with WWE—The Undertaker has faced a variety of opponents in the main event in a variety of matches. He’s faced madmen, monsters, super athletes, and the supernatural. As it usually goes when someone retires, there’s talk of wrestlers they wanted to face.
The Undertaker Would Love Face Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins If He Was ‘Healthy Enough’
In a recent interview with The Independent, The Undertaker mentioned another match with Roman Reigns and a bout against Seth Rollins as two matches he’d love. That is, if his health was holding up better. He mentioned that he was on pretty much on his last legs when facing Reigns:
“I would love to be healthy enough to have a match now with Roman Reigns. When we worked at [WrestleMania 33], I was on my last legs. And he wasn’t he wasn’t nearly the performer that he is now.”
That match was in 2017 and The Undertaker would wrestle several times after that bout. He would need to bandage up and go through his procedures for the matches but he always made it to throw fists. What he says is true: Roman Reigns is very different performer than he was in 2017 as a forced babyface with something to prove.
It’s easy to say that facing a seasoned version of an opponent would be an anticipated match. The same applies to another pick in Seth Rollins. While he has more in-ring experience than Reigns, Rollins arrived on the main roster at the same time as Reigns as part of The Shield. Taker had nothing but good things to say about Seth Rollins as a superstar telling The Independent:
“He’s just an incredible in-ring talent. And now he’s got this really flamboyant character, which would have been a really interesting contrast between the doom and gloom of The Undertaker and his over-the-top character.”
What’s interesting about this is that The Undertaker was always better against characters that dramatically clashed with his darker, edgier personas. Meanwhile, his biker period was a time of working well with everyone.
