UFC middleweight Colby “Chaos” Covington has never been one to mince words. Covington is all but confirmed to fight Leon Edwards at UFC 295, and if so will share top billing with heavyweight champ Jon Jones. If Jones makes it to the event, Covington is promising some “tough questions” for Jones.
“Who doesn’t wanna see me on stage with Jon Jones? Guys, you know the questions I’m gonna ask? I’m gonna ask questions that all the people want answered.
Colby Covington Promises “Tough Questions” For Jon Jones At UFC 295
‘What is a picogram, Jonny? Hey, Jonny, who were the two girls that were in the back of your Bentley when you wrecked it in Vegas around that pole?’
I want the tough questions guys.‘Hey, Jonny, what was in the bag when you hit the pregnant lady at the stoplight and you fled from the scene?’”
In case Covington is being too subtle, these are references to Jones’ much-publicized run-ins with the law. These include multiple DUI citations, including one hit-and-run involving a pregnant women. Given Covington’s ultra-conservative law-loving persona, it’s no surprise that he’s gunning for Jones’ criminal record.
“Guys, it’s gonna be frickin’ electric factory if you put me and [Jones] on the same stage. Leon can’t hang on the same stage as me for that long, so you might as well have me and Jon on the same stage. And we know he’s unreliable, so that’s two reasons why.
So let’s get this done, let’s go to Madison Square Garden.” Colby also accused Jones of being unreliable in another interview. When he was fighting at light heavyweight, Jon Jones tested positive multiple times for steroid use.
Jones was also known at the time for his hard-partying ways, and Colby Covington held nothing back in his critique of Jones’ extracurricular activities.
“They can’t depend on Jon Jones. You know better than anyone. He’s unreliable, he’s unprofessional. He could get popped for steroids, he could do a glass of tequila and some booger sugar up his nose, and he might be beating his wife and in jail again.
So who better than to have as an insurance policy than Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington, the guy that just so happens to occupy fourth-highest gate in arena history at Madison Square Garden.
I think that’s where it’s gonna end up playing at.” Although a fight has yet to be announced, Covington’s recent slew of press appearances after over a year of silence suggest that an announcement is imminent. Only time will tell.
