There has been a lot of talk surrounding Vince McMahon lately within WWE. The former CEO had stepped down from the company in 2022 due to sexual misconduct allegations.
He would return shortly after, spearheading a sale to Endeavour – starting a merger between WWE & UFC. While he’s stayed hands off on the product, there has been changes made to shows like Smackdown Live and Monday Night RAW.
We also haven’t seen Vince on TV since 2022, and we can’t expect him to get physical again even if he shows up – especially after a recent surgery.
Vince McMahon Had Successful Spine Surgery
On July 17th, Vince McMahon would undergo major spinal surgery. It has been reported that the procedure took five hours to complete, was “pretty intensive “ and in the end, was successful.
There is no clear timeline on when Vince will return to work, but the reason for the surgery is clear by simply looking at what Vince has done over the past 25 years.
For someone who didn’t need to get into the ring, Vince gave his all to the Mr. McMahon character. He remains one of the greatest heel figures in the history of professional wrestling, and ensured that Stone Cold Steve Austin became the biggest name in the industry during the Attitude Era.
Vince would even continue putting his body on the line late into his career, taking beatings from CM Punk & Kevin Owens.
There is footage of Vince before WrestleMania 36 showing Rob Gronkowski it was safe to dive off an elevated platform despite being 74 years old at the time. He even got in the ring for a match at WrestleMania 38, defeating Pat McAfee before taking a Stone Cold Stunner.
Simply put, regardless of how you feel about Vince McMahon’s actions behind the scenes, it’s hard to deny that he put wrestling first.
Vince was doing everything he could to keep fans engaged, and if that meant falling off ladders or taking headbutts – he would do it. This has all led up to body damage, and thus – to surgeries.
