Finn Balor has had a pretty strong return to form after joining WWE faction The Judgment Day as its leader. The former Universal champion was no slouch upon returning to the main roster but as a babyface, he wasn’t high on WWE’s plans to get him in the mix of main event gold.
After all, while he was out, the roster changed significantly and when he returned places had been established and Finn never really had that Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar effect where he could leave and have his position when he returned. Balor would have to get in where he fit in on the main roster.
Finn Balor Rumored to be Leaving WWE Soon? Where Would He Go?
However, Finn Balor is in this place where if WWE wanted to write him off TV or off the roster, that could be arranged. He’s not exactly essential to their overall plans right now.
That isn’t to say that he couldn’t be eventually but a lot more work is necessary. Knowing this, fans began to speculate that The Demon could be considering a departure from WWE.
The thing is that there’s really nothing to indicate WWE wanting to release him or him being really unhappy. Sure, he lost at SummerSlam but if anything, he’s on television regularly and can be put in the mix with the main eventers. Finn Balor hasn’t been demoted the midcard proper in WWE.
This didn’t stop fans from doing the usual and speculated that not only him potentially leaving WWE, but they fantasy booked his AEW debut and the results are very—It’s an AEW debut. Their music hits, they speak with the crowd or attack someone and leave. It’s very “Hard to mess this up”.
Make no mistake about it: Finn would be incredible in AEW with the right opponent. So, expect a speed-balled storyline to capitalize on his arrival before really integrating him into the promotion.
Of course, that’s if Finn Balor left WWE for AEW. Of course, one fan booked him joining the Dark Order—a faction with a similar color motif as The Judgment Day in WWE.
The best tie to AEW is his relationship with The Elite via his time in New Japan’s Bullet Club where he was the faction’s leader. While speaking to Haus of Wrestling, he told Nick Hausman:
“I would love to get an opportunity to work with those guys again, but, once they’re happy in their situation, that’s all that really matters to me. The Bucks and Kenny, great guys, had a great working relationship with them in New Japan. Hopefully, in the future, we’ll get to work together again. Whether it’s here, there, or somewhere else, who knows? But I’m happy here. They’re happy there.” (h/t: Wrestlezone)
What do you think? Can you see Finn Balor leaving WWE for AEW? Or is this just a mix of fan hope so that they can fantasy book their faves? Share your thoughts in the comments!
