He retired shortly after the investigation began but has since returned to the WWE to oversee its sale and has been taking a more active role in the creative side despite assurances to the contrary.
Here We Go Again! Vince McMahon Subpoenaed and Hit with a Search Warrant Amid Allegations he Paid $15 Million in Hush Money for Alleged Sexual Harassment
Vince even settled with Rita Chatterton, the first female referee that was scrubbed from the history books after she accused Vince of raping her. She said she stayed quiet about it until after her parents passed away so she wouldn’t cause them more stress.
It looked like all of that was in the WWE and Vince McMahon’s rearview mirror until news broke that the federal government hit Vince with a subpoena and search warrant following allegations he paid out $25 million in hush money for sexual harassment allegations.
Same investigation of something new?
The allegations come from four women from the last decade and a half, with one claim coming for a former wrestler that claimed she was paid $7.5 million after she was coerced into performing oral sex on Vince.
When she resisted more encounters, she claims Vince demoted her and didn’t renew her contract.
Given his history that came to light last year and the timing, this has fans talking once more. With Vince taking a medical leave following serious spinal surgery, it has some wondering if this is an attempt to oust him.
While he’s absent, it was announced that he will remain Executive Chairman of the Company, which means he won’t step down voluntarily, especially after he forced his way back into the company.
Following the latest accusations, Vince as insister that his focus will be on recovering from surgery and closing the WWE and UFC merger he came back to make happen. The new company will be worth and estimated $21 billion.
According to dailmail.co.uk WWE released a statement saying: : “We believe this is a continuation of the investigation that commenced last summer. WWE has cooperated throughout and fully understands and respects the government’s need for a complete process.”
This is going to be interesting to see how it plays out and whether Vince will face any charges since none have been made at this time.
