WWE fans are currently seeing a rapid rise for one key star, that being LA Knight. Over the past year, Knight has truly captured the hearts of WWE fans with his incredible charisma.
However, it hasn’t been all positive – with many pointing out how Knight is very similar to legends from WWE’s past, notably The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. These fans don’t bother Knight however, as he’s used to the comparisons at this point.
LA Knight Doesn’t Intend To Hide His Influences
During an interview with Inside The Ropes, Knight would talk about how he’s been compared for The Rock & Stone Cold for the past 20 years – and how he has combined his influences into the man we see on TV today. Knight had the following to say.
“It doesn’t matter. I’ve heard that since the very beginning. I’ve heard that since I started in 2003. You know, when I first started, people would say, ‘Oh, he sounds like The Rock or he sounds like Austin, or even my very first set of gear, I think it was like my second set of gear when I was in Ohio, I had red and yellow, ‘Oh, he’s being Hulk Hogan.’
Everybody’s always going to make a comparison of some sort. I’m 100% influenced by those guys, absolutely. I’m influenced by Flair. I’m influenced by Savage. I’m influenced by Jake the Snake. I’m influenced by other entities outside of wrestling. I’m influenced by musical artists and by actors. So I mean, yeah, all that stuff’s in there. At the end of the day, you put all that together, you get that conglomeration, you got yourself LA Knight.”
Right now, Knight is locked in a feud with two time WWE Champion The Miz. The Miz has generally played a bit of a gatekeeper role in WWE in recent years, being a test to see if someone is truly ready for the main event spots in WWE – which bodes well for the future of LA Knight.
