In another move, the WWE has released Matt Riddle a day after other releases happened. This isn’t a surprise given his recent airport trouble at JFK in New York.
After allegedly being intoxicated on the plane he later claimed on social media that a police officer sexually assaulted him and he even included a picture of the officer.
BREAKING NEWS!!!! WWE RELEASES MATT RIDDLE!!!!
He later deleted the post but because of the accusation an internal investigation was launched.
The port authority said that they were unaware of the incident and the police were called in response to someone causing a disturbance on the plane.
As a result of that, it’s believed Riddle was kept off of the last two episodes of Raw and there were a series of questions about his future with the company from fans, commentators, and critics.
Just wanted to inform everyone that I’m no longer with WWE. Thank you for the memories and opportunities also thank you to all the fans for the support and love you give me every time I go out to the ring. See you all soon 🤙 pic.twitter.com/fpuQkIJAFx

Breaking the news
In a move that’s been the norm the last couple of days, Riddle took to social media (X/Twitter) where he shared the news of his release:
“Just wanted to inform everyone that I’m no longer with WWE. Thank you for the memories and opportunities also thank you to all the fans for the support and love you give me every time I go out to the ring. See you all soon 🤙”
While we have no doubt he’ll land on his feet with another wrestling company or return to MMA in some form, it’s doubtful the latter will be with the UFC since they and the WWE have merged into TKO, but stranger things have happened.
He’d be a solid fit in AEW if Tony Kahn feels he’s worth the risk and it’d give him a chance to be reunited with Keith Lee.
There’d be so many new matchups for him that fans would enjoy and the new environment may do him some good and allow him to reinvent and reinvigorate himself.
But at the end of the day it’ll be up to him to see himself to any potential employers and we have no doubt he’ll prove himself an entertaining draw.
We wish him the best with his future endeavors and will share any updates as they become available, but for right now he’s going to have the standard 90 day non-compete clause so there will be plenty of time for speculation.
