The WWE has long used their tag team division as a developing ground for potential singles stars, and while the tag division as suffered for it, we’ve gotten so great talents and memories out of it.
Stars like Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, the British Bulldog and others went on to have some great singles careers.
The Usos Move Closer to their Dream Brother vs. Brother WrestleMania Match
Now it’s the Usos turn as Jey Uso went to Monday Night Raw, leaving Jimmy Uso on Smackdown where he can reconnect with the Bloodline.
Storyline wise, the move was made by Cody Rhodes after he pulled some strings and announced Jey was part of the red brand at Payback, and Jey had a solid Raw debut on September 4’s Raw.
The stage is set
It looks like the stage is set to keep the brothers apart for the next few months until WrestleMania where they could finally have their dream match of facing each other after Jimmy’s betrayal at SummerSlam.
Jimmy has been vocal about wanting to face is brother in a WrestleMania match as it’s a childhood dream of theirs after growing up watching Bret and Owen Hart’s match at WrestleMania 10.
“Another dream match would be me vs my brother at WrestleMania. I grew up watching Bret vs. Owen in a cage match, and they beat the living hell out of each other. I thought it was really cool what they did. And they’ve been doing that all their lives. That’s the same way I see us whenever we get the chance for that to happen.”
A couple of months ago, the Usos sat down with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport and Jey reiterated what Jimmy said about a split from his brother and have a dream match like Bret Hart and Owen Hart’s.
“It’s like back in the living room, Uce. From day one, again, this is what we always wanted to do. I want my dad [Rikishi] to be in there and be involved, [as] a referee, I just want my whole family to run this thing.” He further added, “Just me being against my brother, my heart will be filled with joy, man.”
This would be a great match, but there’s a belief that it may not happen at WrestleMania as thirty plus weeks is too long to build it.
Honestly, we think it’s the perfect time as both have the chance to become great singles competitors and build their rivalry over the months with a slow burn.
There doesn’t even have to be a mention of it as they move forward, but then they could have an iconic face off at the Royal Rumble like Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior did.
It’d give them a chance to come face to face after months of being separated and we’d learn the hostility between them hasn’t cooled but simmered, waiting for the right time to boil over.
It’ll be even better if they’re among the finalists with one seeking to win to dethrone Roman Reigns and the other looking to protect him.
They both are thwarted and that would increase the intensity of their feud even more and the build up for WrestleMania would be awesome.
