There has been a war brewing between Becky Lynch & Trish Stratus ever since Lynch won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships with Lita. Stratus felt this was another example of disrespect, and that people forgot that she was the one to initially make people take the women’s division seriously.
Their last meeting came on an episode on Monday Night RAW, but ended in a no-contest, turning into a full on brawl. Tonight, WWE intends to keep this match in the ring – and make it a steel cage match.
Trish Stratus Enters Her First Cage Match – But She’s A Natural
Stratus would immediately look to flee the cage, being locked in the cage for the first time in her Hall of Fame career. Lynch would catch Stratus and hit a series of Exploder Suplexes.
Startus would try to climb the cage, and was sent down to the mat as Lynch climbed to grab her. Lynch would be yanked down herself, and driven into the side of the cage.
Stratus would yank on the hair of Lynch as she would force her face into the cage with her boot. Applying a rear chinlock through the ropes, Stratus would get a double fishhook on the mouth of Lynch – adding insult to injury. Lynch would get free, and lifted Stratus onto her shoulder and rammed her face first into the cage wall.
Slamming Stratus to the mat, Lynch tried for the Disarmher. Stratus would avoid the submission, before both ladies would take turns bouncing the others face off the side of the cage.
Eventually Lynch gained complete control, and set up Stratus on the ropes for the Irish Air leg drop across the neck, getting a two count.
Lynch would try for another, but was caught on the top rope with the attempt at the Frankensteiner. Stratus was unable to drop Lynch, and instead kicked her to the mat and tried to climb free – only to be pulled into a powerbomb for another two count. Stratus would lift Lynch into the Widows Peak, pulling out her old rivals finisher for a near fall.
Never Tell Becky Lynch The Odds
Lynch fired back with the Twist Of Fate – the finisher of Hall of Famer Lita. It wasn’t senough to get the win, but Lynch would look to end it with the Irish Air. Lynch would have to adjust as Stratus rolled, and would catch her with the Stratusfaction – only getting a two count.
Both would scale the cage, and Lynch would look for the Manhandle Slam to the mat – only to take a Super Bulldog from the top rope.
Unable to get the pinfall, Stratus sinstead tired for the escape – and got over the top of the cage before Lynch could catch her. She would pull Stratus back over the top, and down to the ring with a massive superplex.
Lynch would try to climb over the top, but Stratus would crawl for the door. Her protege Zoey Stark tried to help yank her out, and succeeded at slamming the door into Lynch’s face. Lynch ducked the Chick Kick and got the Manhandle Slam – only for Stark to break into the cage to stop the pinfall.
Lynch would see the two on one odds, and slammed the door shut. She would brawl with Stark and hit the Manhandle Slam while Stratus climbed the cage – only for Lynch to grab her, and drive her to the mat with an Avalanche Manhandle Slam for the victory.
Stark was left in the cage with Stratus, who would berate her. Having enough of being verbally abused by the legend – she closed the cage door, and dropped Stratus with a knee strike – ending their relationship. Stark would walk away with a confident look.
