When WWE signed international superstar Dragon Lee to a contract – everyone knew his time on the NXT brand would be short.
One of the top luchadors in the world today, Lee would instantly begin impressing WWE management with his matches. While he was originally set to spend one year as part of the NXT roster, he’s already been moved to the main roster.
Dragon Lee Moved To WWE Main Roster After Impressing Against Dominik Mysterio
Dave Meltzer would report that following Lee’s match with Dominik Mysterio on a recent episode of Monday Night RAW, he would be moved to the main roster effective immediately.
This match would work to speed up the timeline of his WWE career – which is huge for Lee. His time on the NXT roster was very short – with only 25 matches, but many felt he should have skipped NXT all together given his experiences before WWE.
At just 28 years old, WWE signed Lee just as he will hit the prime years of his career – and potentially have finally found the next big hispanic star for the company.
Rey Mysterio remains their biggest draw in that category, but Mysterio is slowing his career down. Lee is already a fan favorite, and has all the skills needed to become one of the most accomplished luchadors in WWE history.
Appearing Tonight On WWE Smackdown Live Against Austin Theory
His main roster run officially begins tonight, as he goes one on one with former United States Champion Austin Theory.
This is the type of major match that will validate WWE’s choice to put Lee on the main roster, given Theory’s work with the likes of John Cena & Edge in 2023. These are two future main event stars for the company – and will likely not be their only singles match.
It’s their first singles match to date – though not their first in-ring meeting. That came in 2019 on an indy show, which saw Lee defeat Theory and AEW star RUSH in a triple threat match.
