Stuart took to social media (formerly known as Twitter) to announce the news. He expressed, “My mother-in-law, Barbara, has passed away after a painful fight with Pancreatic Cancer. She did not want a service but instead wanted us to support the Arroyo Grande Hospital Foundation for further care of others. If you are so inclined.”

Barbara’s wishes are being honored through a fundraising page established in her memory. The page aims to raise $5,000 for the Arroyo Grande Hospital Foundation, with a goal of supporting cancer programs and services within their community. At the time of writing, the page has garnered over $2,280 in donations.
The fundraiser page also features a heartfelt quote from Barbara herself: “I wish they would do less rocket launches from Vandenberg and instead use the money for pancreatic cancer research!” This quote poignantly highlights Barbara’s strength and her desire to make a difference.
