It’s Friday which means another edition of Friday Night SmackDown! Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give you the coverage of WWE SmackDown as it occurs. The show has just begun and in the opening segment, King Corbin emerged to gloat about attacking and bathing Roman Reigns in dogfood the week before. He claimed that all entrances to the arena have been sealed to keep Roman from making an appearance.
After this went on for a bit, the New Day ended up interrupting him. Kofi Kingston said what they did to Roman Reigns last week was disrespectful and they were not down for it. The two bickered back and forth, with Kofi putting his 2019 over as bigger than Baron’s, and Baron mocking Kingston’s swift loss to Brock Lesnar.
The two of them got into each other’s face and Kofi actually slapped Corbin! They then basically dared each other to meet in the ring, both seeming quite up for it.
You can see an excerpt of my recap of this segment below:
Kofi says as far as comparing years go, he won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania and for six months he defended it against all comers, including Baron’s court jester Dolph Ziggler! Chant of “Kofi” as the heels are not happy about this. When he lost, you didn’t see him whining and complaining, that’s not his style. He put one foot in front of the other and stepped forward and that’s why they’re the WWE World Tag Team Champions. Kofi and E enter the ring, and Kofi reiterates the crowd’s point that he looks stupid. Says what they did to Roman last week was straight-up disrespectful and he doesn’t like it. Baron and Dolph try and dismiss him, only for Kofi to slap him across the face. Tells him if he wants to step up and be a locker room leader like Roman Reigns, he’ll get humiliated like Roman Reigns.
Later, after the commercial break, it was announced that a match between the two was official. It shall be King Corbin vs. Kofi Kingston later on tonight!
