When Logan Paul fought Floyd Mayweather in a no-contest bout last year, few predicted that the aftermath of the fight would be more heated than anything happening in the ring. Sure, the fight itself was a snoozefest, with Mayweather barely touching his YouTuber opponent and Paul making the least of his massive reach and size advantage, leaning on Mayweather in the clinch.
Since then, however, Logan and his considerably louder brother Jake have repeatedly claimed that Floyd “Money” Mayweather has failed to pay them for the fight. They’re even threatening to sue. Mayweather, on the Pivot podcast, decided to explain how payment at the elite level of the fight game actually works.
Floyd Mayweather Reacts to Logan Paul Lawsuit: “Be happy with the biggest payday you ever got in your life.”
“This comes with the territory. To them, that’s real money, and I like the YouTubers. The money on the back end though, from pay-per-view, that takes a while. Nothing comes right away. I’m still collecting checks from fights seven or eight years ago. They just hate when the table is turned. Be happy with the biggest payday you ever got in your life.”
Effectively, Mayweather says nothing is settled until the pay-per-view numbers are confirmed. Jake Paul, on the other hand, sees it differently, claiming that Floyd Mayweather is “broke”. “He really hasn’t [paid Logan.
There’s a lawsuit that was opened up last week or two weeks ago. They’re pressuring him both legally and behind-the-scenes, but it’s embarrassing for Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather to not have enough money to pay my brother.”
Paul confirmed that a lawsuit was either in progress or about to be on the Impaulsive podcast. “Yeah, we’re gonna sue Floyd Mayweather… He got sued, you know got sued for the same (reason). Somethings going on and there is one side that is very clear to see, is f*****g shady.
Yo, we’re simply not getting paid in full. We’ve been f*****g dragged along for way too long now. Dude, he is f*****g broke, huh? They call him ‘Money’ Mayweather, but where’s your money?”
Paul’s manager, however, stated that they have not yet sued Mayweather. “He hasn’t sued him yet. We’re still talking about it. There’s still conversations that are happening.”
It doesn’t look like the Floyd Mayweather/Logan Paul beef will be settling down any time soon. If Mayweather is correct, a lawsuit won’t speed up the process, but pressure from the Paul brothers might be enough to make Floyd pay out of pocket.
