Nothing epitomizes Jon Jones’ turbulent UFC career quite like the time he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on the same night as he was arrested for domestic battery. Body Cam footage of the arrest has now emerged, painting a bleak picture of Jon Jones’ evening.
Police were called to Jones’ hotel when he allegedly assaulted his then-fiancee, Jessie Moses. In a recently deleted Tweet, he revealed that she left him “months ago”. Whether this was due to Jone allegedly beating her in front of their children is unclear.
Video Footage Reveals Jon Jones Headbutting Cop Car
Upon police arriving at the hotel, they detained Jon Jones, who launched into a hateful tirade against the arresting officers, repeatedly yelling “I hate you!” “Why are you doing this?
This is so humiliating. I got in the Hall of Fame tonight. Then you’re gonna put me on this when I’m walking down the street. Oh my goodness. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you so much!
Thank you! What’s your name? On my Hall of Fame night. Say your name publicly. Say it. You arrested me on my Hall of Fame night just because I’m big and black. What did I do? I came from my Hall of Fame ceremony and I’m black.
I had my friends and I did nothing to you. I was at a ceremony. I don’t want to answer your questions no more. Am I at fault? A black man can’t drink? Getting elected into the Hall of Fame and this is what I got?”
Jon Jones then proceeds to bash his own head repeatedly into the cop car. This earned him an additional charge of “a misdemeanor count of destroying another’s property”.
Surprisingly, given the footage available, the felony charge for the $5,000 value or more of the vehicle was dismissed, as was with the misdemeanor domestic battery charge for which the police were called in the first place.
Jon Jones has not set foot inside the Octagon since 2020, when he defended his title against Dominick Reyes. He stepped aside from the 205-pound division, ostensibly to bulk up to heavyweight, but as his recent arrest record indicates, things have hardly gone according to plan.
Jon Jones blamed various factors, including alcohol and being molested as a child, for his behavior, but has shown no signs of returning to competition any time soon. Let us know your thoughts on the video in the comments.
