While the show quality for PPV events in WWE in 2022 have been lacking – it’s hardly due to the talent of the WWE roster. From top to bottom, and even after deep roster cuts in 2021 – the WWE roster is better than it’s ever been from an in-ring perspective. When you have the likes of Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, Sami, Zayn, Kevin Owens and AJ Styles around the card – you have some of the best in the world at your disposal – and much like Owens & Zayn? AJ Styles is going nowhere.
AJ Styles Gets Big Money WWE Contract
Knowing that AJ Styles would be sought after if he hit free agent status, WWE would offer a massive contract to The Phenomenal One. Reports from Fightful Select indicate that AJ Styles will now be making over 3 million dollars each year within WWE. Considering Styles is a family man, this kind of money is a no-brainer, as it secures the best possible life for his wife and kids.
When you think of the fact that for years, AJ Styles was the face of TNA Wrestling (now Impact Wrestling) – him making massive money in WWE is something that fans would have laughed at the mere idea of back in 2012. Now, he’s a former WWE Champion, and one of their highest paid stars – showing just how much faith WWE has in Styles.
No Clear Path To Wrestlemania
However, there isn’t much going on with Styles on WWE TV right now. Following failing to claim the WWE Championship in the Elimination Chamber match, Styles doesn’t have a clear path to Wrestlemania. There is no doubt he will be on the show, given that it’s a two day card – and that he’s one of WWE’s biggest names, but we only have rumours towards potential matches.
One big potential match comes with Edge – who is likewise looking for an opponent at Wrestlemania. This is a dream match for some, especially after a brief interaction when Edge made his return in 2020 at the Royal Rumble. Another match that has been thrown around is Shawn Michaels vs. AJ Styles – as WWE are looking to have both HBK & Stone Cold wrestle in Texas once again.
