Josh Peck has opened up on his prior addiction to drugs and alcohol which had resulted in him putting on an excessive amount of weight.
Josh Peck Opens Up On His Prior Weight Gain As A Result Of Substance Abuse
The actor today looks nothing like the man that he was known for during his time on the hit show ‘Drake and Josh.’ At that point, Josh had reached around 300 pounds.
This was as a result of using alcohol and drugs (including cocaine) as a way to deal with being a victim of body shaming during his childhood.
In the picture here, we can see Josh and his co-star Drake Bell standing next to each other. While Josh may be smiling, it is clear that he is not in the best possible shape.
He would go on to lose 127 pounds, but even after that, Josh admitted that he had to work on himself. In an interview with People magazine, he said: “It became clear that once I lost the weight that I was the same head in a new body.
“What is really clear is that I overdo things…It was really a buffet. I had this illusion of becoming more confident and attractive when I was partaking.”
Once he realised that things were getting out of hand, Josh made the immediate decision to enter rehab. As a result, he has been sober since 2008 and has never looked back since.
After all, there was a significant chance that not only would his health suffer, but there was also the possibility that his career could have ended.
But after putting in the hard yards, Josh admitted that he has now reached a place where he is more comfortable in his own skin.
His following comments confirmed as much: “By walking through discomfort and by doing my best to break down the false identity I had for myself, I was able to get to the place that I was always seeking.
“I’m just trying to do good work that makes people happy.” It is great to see Josh in such a better place, and long may that continue going forward. So there you have it folks. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
