The NXT Tag Team Division continues to get more and more sparse. They lost teams like Street Profits & Viking Riders, leaving them with a very sparse division to work with. They gained two people who left the main roster to return to NXT, that being Breezango. Tyler Breeze & Fandango added a veteran edge to the tag division, which now consists of The Undisputed Era, Forgotten Sons, and the jobber team Ever Rise. With the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic coming, we will see some teams formed and maybe brought in from NXT UK to fill in the gaps.
Fandango and His Injury
Fandango announced he was getting surgery on Instagram. His post had this to say “My dreams of pitching in the @mlb are kinda over?…. #tommyjohn #nipple”. Tommy John surgery is common with baseball pitchers, hence that dream ending for him. It can take a pitcher 18-24 months to recover, but where Fandango isn’t throwing fast balls on a weekly basis, he would be able to return in a quicker time than that.
Tommy John surgery is to repair the ulnar collateral ligament of the elbow which is most often injured by repeated stress from overhead movement. This motion is common in sports that involve throwing, such as baseball and javelin. It’s unclear how he could have suffered this injury with wrestling, but with how physical it can be, anything is possible.
Could Tyler Breeze Go Solo Once Again?
With Fandango injured, we could see his partner Tyler Breeze take another shot at a solo run in NXT. He was part of the old guard alongside talent like Neville, Sami Zayn, and Tyson Kidd. His skills aren’t at the level of people like Johnny Gargano or Adam Cole, but don’t think he is unable to step up his game and shock the world. He tried for the NXT North American Championship when it was held by Velveteen Dream, but was unsuccessful. Maybe we could see him take a stab at Roderick Strong on an upcoming episode of NXT.
Hopefully Fandango is not out of action for too terribly long, as he just returned from injury earlier this year, when he recovered from a left labrum tear. That put him out of action for a year, with him only returning in July. Would be a shame to see him lose upwards to another year to injury.
We here at the Overtimer wish Fandango a very speedy recovery. Leave your favorite Fandango moments in the comment section down below!
