Social media can be a wonderful place where friends and family can connect and stay in touch. We also get the chance to interact with our favorite athletes and entertainers.
But there’s also a dark side to it as many have taken to using it to scam people out of anything they can, and Liv Morgan has found herself caught up in these shenanigans.
One of the tactics used is to steal someone’s account image an info to create fake accounts. They then send friend/follow requests or messages asking for money due to unfortunate circumstances or more.
Catfishing has been more and more prevalent over the last couple of years in the wrestling world as fans want to support their favorites, and with the pandemic many found themselves in uncertain times.
It’s a perfect storm.
Guys I’ve been sent so many emails of horror stories about people making fake accounts and emails pretending to be me & asking for huge amounts of money. This really makes me so sad. Please don’t use my name to con people out of their hard earned money. Please please please

No one’s immune
Recently, Seth Rollins was attacked on the ramp on Raw by someone that claimed to have given money to Rollins after the pair chatted online.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t Rollins he was talking to and his frustration led to the altercation.
After learning about some of the things that have been done under her name, Liv recently spoke with a plea for people to stop scamming others.
“Guys I’ve been sent so many emails of horror stories about people making fake accounts and emails pretending to be me & asking for huge amounts of money. This really makes me so sad. Please don’t use my name to con people out of their hard earned money. Please please please.
“A man sold his home and lost everything thinking he was helping ‘me.’ This has me so sick. Please know I would never reach out to ask any of you for a single penny. I’m so sad. Please stop”
Whether or not her plea will work is anyone’s guess and a story for another time, but it’s good she’s drawing attention to the problem and we hope the people that were scammed can get the help they need to reclaim what they lost.
As for supporting our favorites, there are plenty of ways for us to support them by purchasing their merchandise, buying tickets to the events they’re in, and more.
While having a relationship with people online is good, we should never send money to someone online we don’t know, and with more of these stories coming out more will understand what’s happening.
