Ever since professional wrestling has been around, discussions on who the best in the world is have been happening. Many have had a claim to the title over their careers, with the likes of Ric Flair, Kenta Kobashi, and more all having very valid arguments towards this. Some like CM Punk even use it as their nickname, forcing them to really rise to the occasion and prove they are, in fact , the best in the world. However now – Cody Rhodes is making this claim.
Cody Rhodes Claims That He Is The Best Wrestler In The World
While speaking with Ryan Satin on the ‘Out of Character’ podcast, Rhodes would share why he feels that the title of ‘best wrestler in the world’ belongs to him. He’d say the following about why he thinks this.
“I’m the best wrestler in the world. I can tell you that without it sounding braggadocious and it’s simply because this is all I do. I trained to do it. I live and breathe it, I have a school here with four rings. I treat this like an athlete in the NFL would treat a game.”
Settling Back Into WWE
Right now, Cody Rhodes has settled back into the mix of WWE – appearing as part of their Monday Night RAW brand. Following his return match against Seth Rollins at Wrestlemania 38, Rhodes is set for a rematch with Rollins at the Backlash PPV next month. He’s expected to be a challenger for Roman Reigns at some point in 2022, with Rhodes potentially getting a shot at the Unified WWE Universal Champion at Summerslam.
His return match with Rollins was fantastic, and should he be able to keep that pace on big matches going forward – there is a claim to be made for Rhodes as the best in the world today. However, it’s hard to reach that level in WWE – where in-ring action is often placed to the side in favour of storyline work. If anyone can do it in 2022 however, Rhodes is not a bad shout.
