Heya everybody! It’s Friday Night and that means another edition of Friday Night SmackDown is on the horizon! I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and I’m here to give you the previews of tonight’s action! As usual there’s not too much announced in advance but no reason not to look into what has been put out there. There’s barely ten minutes left before the show starts as I type this so let’s get a move on!
Sasha Banks & Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross vs. Lacey Evans & Dana Brooke
Right, so this match does basically sense in storyline. Lacey and Dana teaming up was kind of foreshadowed. The dominant heels of the division, Bayley and Sasha, have made enemies of all four of the other women in this match.
It’s just a little peculiar, given the alignments, that this looks like a 4-on-2 scenario on paper. None of the babyfaces have any particular issue with each other, and would all wanna get a piece of Banks and Bayley. One might think that the more apropos thing would be to get two more heels for Banks and Bayley to team with and make an eight-woman tag out of it, but well, this is already most of the active division right here. Fire & Desire could do it but they seem to be turning Mandy Rose face and slowly breaking her up from Sonya.
The main feud of course is Lacey Evans’ pursuit of Bayley and the rivalry with Sasha Banks that will eventually transition her into going for the title. But given the constellation, it’s easy enough to think that despite her best efforts, she might not really get much of either of them here. I’d guess that the story of the match will see Sasha and Bayley try and stay out of the action, let the two face teams work each other, then swoop in at the end for the sneaky win. Banks and Bayley over.
