Despite some recent highs in the division with WrestleMania, the WWE women’s division is missing a few key players at the moment. Both Asuka & Bayley have been injured since mid-2021, with low hopes of an immediate return. That is, until now. The Empress of Tomorrow could find her way back to a WWE ring very soon.
Asuka Has Been Out Of Action Since July 2021
In news first broken by Fightful Select, Asuka is cleared from injury and is expected to make her return to the ring. She’s been out of action since July 2021, when she had to undergo shoulder surgery.
Asuka would also undergo a dental procedure in September 2021, after losing a tooth during a match with Shayna Baszler. This likely didn’t add to her injury time however, and was just something that was easy to slip in while she was already rehabbing her shoulder.
Asuka is the type of wrestler who can be brought back to the ring – and be shot right to the top of the card. She would make a fine challenger for either the Smackdown or RAW Women’s Champions, though a potential matchup with Bianca Belair is infinitely more appealing than yet another match with Charlotte Flair.
Still No Word On The Return Of Bayley
On the other side of the coin, there is no word on when fans can expect Bayley to make her return in WWE. Bayley has been out since just before Money in the Bank 2021 – where she tore her ACL while training before a planned match with Bianca Belair over the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
She’s stayed in the mind of fans by remaining very active on social media, and will likely remain a heel when she is able to return to the ring. Much like Asuka, Bayley is someone who can return and head right for a title shot – and with her feud against Belair left unfinished, could find herself on Monday Night RAW.
