Ladies and gentlemen, WWE Friday Night SmackDown is upon us as we speak, about an hour and twenty minutes in now! I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer, here to give you the live recap and results from the show as they come, even if the feed to Fox just completely dies here in my neck of the woods! It’s the first live show of the year for WWE here, and it came with a fair few surprises to say the very least, including the surprisingly casual return of John Morrison!
Sheamus made his return earlier tonight, pretending to make the save for Shorty G after a gangbeating from the Revival, only to turn right around and nail him with a Brogue Kick, seemingly starting up a new feud.
Later on in the night, The Miz battled Kofi Kingston after a confrontation with him an hour or so prior. After Kofi got the flash pin victory, the Miz jumped him from behind, before being chased out of the ring by Big E, seemingly setting himself up as a heel. In the ensuing segment, an interviewer made the visit backstage to try and get a word from the Miz in his dressing room.
But instead of the Miz, out walked John Morrison instead!
Morrison, known for his former partnership with the Miz, seems to be his on-screen friend once more, here to visit him in his trying times. Miz has been in a rough state since his dealings with Bray Wyatt. It would appear that Morrison will be teaming with the Miz once again going forward, perhaps as a heel tandem – or maybe Morrison will be able to keep Miz straight and they’ll be able to operate as babyfaces.
This is Morrison’s first appearance on WWE television – not counting stills of him on WWE Backstage – since 2011. Ironically his first WWE run ended with the Miz laying him out on the stage and leaving him for dead.
