Tony Fergusson is complaining once more. The lightweight who goes by ‘El Cucuy’ was one of the best UFC lightweight fighters of this era. Currently, he’s holding a professional record of 25-6-0. The last two years are not going great for him, since he has had three straight losses since 2020. However, his 12-fight win streak before these three losses speaks about his abilities.
His loud mouth and short-fused temper are the trademarks of the fighter. He is not kneeling to anybody, and that includes Dana White. At the UFC 274 media day, El Cucuy made an appearance and talked about his future fight and about his dissatisfaction with the UFC promotion.
Dana White Threatened To Hurt Tony Ferguson’s Family – He Must Fight The Opponents They Choose For Him
“I had a nice year and a half to think about everything. However, it’s kind of like being put on restriction a little bit. I still have a bunch of fights left. I’m gonna be real. Yes, I am willing to fight it out. To go out there. They should not hold me under. The promoters here, act like drug dealers sometimes. They just throw around a couple of bucks here and there. They’re like C’mere kid, C’mere kid, take this, take this. And if you don’t have the will to say no to that stupid shit. Then you’re gonna get a good fucking.”
Why is the lightweight sharing this information with the public? Was he a victim of mobbing and abuse? Ant his is not even his first post about how the promotion is looking to trick him into some fights that he doesn’t want. Back in 2019, he posts a tweet: “I’m the type of guy that has been antagonized, provoked, and threatened to take, or not take fights or certain opportunities to benefit monetarily otherwise my family would be have been hurt.”
Has someone been threatening his well-being and the well-being of his family? Because if so, nobody should be tolerating this at all. The authorities need to start looking into this deeply. Finally, the fighters should be able to choose their opponents.
What he is referring to is most probably not a direct threat. We all know that at some points in his career Fergusson did pass through some ‘bench warmings’. Ferguson is referring to this threat. The threat of sending him on the bench, putting him on a hold. But in order not to be put on a hold, aren’t you supposed to show something? Ask yourselves, what has Ferguson shown for the last two years?
For UFC 274, Tony Ferguson will face Michael Chandler. Michael Chandler holds a record of 22-7-0 and currently is on the 6th place of the UFC lightweight rankings.
A win for Tony Fergusson will mean that he will be able to continue his contract with the UFC and get back to the game. However, a loss might mean that he is about to go out of the promotion. A fourth consecutive loss is not something that he really needs at the moment.
