Recently, we’ve seen Impact Wrestling on an absolute roll. Their recent special events with Multiverse of Matches & Rebellion were among the best shows of the year thus far, with an incredible main event of Moose vs. Josh Alexander. The rise of Moose in recent years have given Impact a marketable star to hitch their wagon to – but they almost lost him.
Moose Almost Signed With WWE – Before Scott D’Amore Brought Him Back In
While speaking with Fightful, Moose would describe a key point in his career – when he was very close to walk into WWE. However, he’d say the following on why he stuck around in Impact Wrestling.
“A lot of people don’t know this, but I was pretty much about to walk into WWE. Yeah and I was literally gone and the last talk I had with Scott D’Amore really showed me how much they wanted me. It’s one of those things, I talked to my wife about it, I said, ‘There’s still a lot of things I haven’t accomplished at IMPACT. So leaving to go to the WWE really would be not fair to myself and not fair to Scott, who I really look up to as a mentor and a big brother.’
So I decided to give it one more shot. IMPACT has done a great job keeping some of their core guys and homebred guys. I’m hoping we keep doing the same. I think Scott’s done a phenomenal job with the turnaround he’s done with IMPACT and it’s only gonna get better.”
Moose vs. Josh Alexander Is The Feud Impact Wrestling Needs
Over the past few years, Moose has been someone who has been in the upper card of Impact Wrestling, even when Kenny Omega was the Impact Wrestling World Champion. His recent reign was fantastic, despite more focus being on Josh Alexander looking to reclaim the belt that was stolen from him. Their two recent matches were some of the best in Impact Wrestling history, and likely just the start of the rivalry which could take Impact to new heights.
