After his debut on AEW Dynamite last week (May 4), word spread across social media that the WWE was interesting in him after seeing him in action.
What’s funny about this is he was with the company as Big Cass for a few years and they evidently didn’t know how to use him.
And now that he’s been allowed more say and to grow since being released by the company he’s impressed them.
It happens. As much as Vince McMahon is a proven genius, he misses things at times. We all do.
But Morrissey may have another goal in mind and that’s to be the face of Impact Wrestling.
Surging in popularity
Since coming to Impact Wrestling, Morrissey has slowly grown into one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster and he’s only growing.
He spoke on the Battleground podcast about his goals for 2022 and wanting to be the face of Impact Wrestling. Special thanks to Wrestlingnews.co for the transcript.
“My number one goal is to become the face of the company. That’s my goal. I was there last year to come in, slowly build to that goal, and make an impact. My goal for this year is to become the face of the company and be ‘the guy.’ That’s a goal that I think I will achieve. I think it’s something I’m extremely capable of.”
It’s something we’re looking forward to seeing, but there have been some rumors about him leaving. Since his contract ran out, he’s been reportedly working on an appearances deal that’s date to date.
While we may want to know more about whether he’s coming or going, that’s something that’s up to him and who he wants to share it with and who’s affected by it, as he also said in the interview.
“People out there feel entitled to know everything. I was just watching Tom Brady’s ‘Man in the Arena’ this morning and he talked about that. Everybody feels entitled to know everything going on behind the scenes, what’s going on in people’s personal lives, what’s going on professionally, and how much money people are making. It’s none of their business. So if anybody really hates what I just said, that’s too damn bad. That’s between me, Scott D’Amore, and everybody at Impact, and everybody in my family, and everybody that’s going to be affected by it. In terms of how long I’m there or what I’m making, that’s nobody’s business. That’s just my opinion, but yea, I’m with Impact right now. My goal is to be the face of that company.”
As fans we love to speculate and dig into something to learn all there is to learn, but there’s also the joy from being surprised as seeing our favorites show up in a company we didn’t expect.
It’s so much more fun to enjoy what’s going on in the ring instead of worrying about the nuts and bolts of the operation, but there will always be a thirst to know more.
With that being said, when he wants to announce more he will and we wish him the best in Impact and anywhere else he works. It’s going to be fun seeing how high he can rise.
