Got some WWE Injury Updates tonight, the latest on some of the shelved superstars of WWE. Fightful.com have reportedly gained some insight on WWE’s internal inactive list. This has shed new light on a few situations.
Former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, who earlier this year was forced to relinquish the gold due to a neck injury is evidently expected to return in mid-August. This is tremendous news. Considering the nature of his injury, which required neck surgery, many were concerned for his status. The assumption was that he’d be out for much longer and that there was perhaps risk that he would be forced to retire.
However, should this projection be true, he could return within a few weeks. In theory, a surprise appearance at Takeover: Toronto can’t be ruled out. Much as he was a hated champion in his day, this situation has turned him into a very sympathetic figure. The ovation for his return would be immense, and just seeing him come back to NXT at all would make for a heart-warming moment.
Next in our list of WWE injury updates would be former WWE United States and NXT North American champion Ricochet.
It was reported by many that he was originally set to face AJ Styles at the Raw Reunion last week. However an undisclosed injury forced a quick replacement, with Seth Rollins stepping in. According to Dave Meltzer during a Wrestling Observer Radio show, Ricochet is dealing with some sort of elbow infection. He is listed as TBD on WWE’s inactive list.
Curiously, one half of the Women’s Tag Champions Peyton Royce is also on the inactives list. This is in spite of her still being booked to compete regularly. Albeit this would obviously be in tag matches where she may not have to do much, but it wouldn’t appear that’s how she’s being handled. One might think she’s dealing with a minor injury.
Finally, after undergoing successful shoulder surgery back in May, Ruby Riott’s timetable has emerged. It’s a nasty injury, as she isn’t expected to be back before the year’s out. Assuming no unforeseen complications emerge, WWE expects her back by around Royal Rumble 2020. For what it’s worth, that’s typically a pretty good time to make a return.
