MMA legend Cain Velasquez was denied bail again in Santa Clara County after an hour-long hearing. The former UFC Heavyweight champion allegedly shot a man in February 2022 who claims he’s received serious injuries as a result.
Cain Velasquez Is Once Again Denied Bail in Alleged February 2022 Attack
Velasquez’s legal team attempted to make his arrest more flexible by asking for a $1 million bail and submitting to electronic monitoring and/or full-time supervision while outside.
Prosecutors feel that Cain Velasquez is still a threat to victims in the case, according to MMA Junkie. Paul Bender is one of the victims who appeared via a video conference call. He claims that Velasquez’s attack left him with nerve damage to his fingers and now he can’t work.
Bender is the stepfather of Harry Goularte, the man accused of molesting one of Velasquez’s family members and provoking the alleged attack. He would tell the courtroom that he fears for his life as well as his family’s.
Cain Velasquez will remain behind in jail until at least June 10. Ahead of him awaits a rough case which includes a first-degree attempted murder charge, shooting from a car, shooting at a car, carrying a firearm with the intent to commit a felony, three counts of assault with a firearm, and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
These charges are stacked and Cain’s legal team seems to have quite the task ahead of them. Let us know what you think of this case and the charges against Cain Velasquez down below.
